Mid Season Report

June 21st, 2016

To everyone involved in Football Mid North Coast,

Just a brief catch up with you all as we are well under way for season 2016.

Firstly thank you for choosing to participate in what many of us believe is the greatest game of all.

Not only is it a team sport that brings us together for the sport itself but also as a great way to meet new people, play and associate with friends and family and build a community spirit.

Thank you on behalf of the board and the office to all of you who give of your time to be volunteers and help out around the grounds every week and assist your clubs.

This year we have a record number of players, in fact, over 6,200 an overwhelming increase on last year’s previous record numbers. So a special thanks to all the clubs that had membership drives and those that retained players and officials.

We are working hard to fill the void in our senior refereeing numbers and despite the fact that this is a work in progress there are constructive plans in place to that aim.

We also have a new appointment system for our Referees called Match Ref and despite some initial teething problems and finding our way around the program we believe that this program or one similar is the best way forward as our schedule of matches increases and gets more complicated and time consuming.

As a result of this drive to retain Referees and gain more numbers we have programs in place as well as our efforts to stamp out foul and abusive behavior from not only our players and officials but your supporters as well.

Whilst these offenders are in the minority FFA and NNSWF as well as FMNC acknowledge that we want to be known as a family friendly sport and that one of the main reasons we lose Referee’s is the constant abuse and lack of appreciation for what is a difficult but necessary role.

So in saying that thank you in advance for your support.

Silent Saturday this June 25th as well as the Referee appreciation round is one clear way we can demonstrate our support for the Refereeing group, many of which are also players themselves.

We have, with the support of our Premier League Clubs, begun a program to highlight our highest local level of Football by maintaining and raising the profile of this Premier competition.

The FIFA walkout has been a success and I wish to thank all the Premier League clubs for their efforts to encourage families to attend and improve facilities and the experience for the players and spectators alike.

We have plans to make our Premier League Grand Final an even more family friendly event and experience so stay tuned as we get towards the end of the season.

Our NPL and WPL sides continue to represent our Region with pride and play attractive Football, so a big thanks to all involved and good luck as you ahead in to the second round of your season.

Our office, as you may be aware, has a new General Manager, Bruce Potter, who in conjunction with Amanda and Larry in the office is relishing his role and getting to know the clubs and personnel involved here in our Football Community.

My special thanks to Larisa Sultana for her outstanding contribution whilst we filled the role of our new General Manager and beyond.

To all the club volunteers a special thank you for making the effort to improve our Ground security on match days for the enjoyment of everyone attending and appreciating that you are all volunteers and your time is valuable and limited.

I personally am mindful that many of your clubs are doing the best you can with the people you have available that have time to assist on match days and acknowledge that contribution and effort required and thank you for doing your best.

We continue to bring all our competition rules in line at both ends of our vast competition areas North and South and streamline as many of our operational functions possible.

We are an evolving organization with a vast footprint and providing our great game at so many different levels and in doing so, I would like to say a special thank you and welcome to those 6 and 7 year olds playing structured Football for the very first time.

To those beautiful young children and their parents and families and care givers I hope you stay with us a long time and enjoy the friendship that our game will hopefully provide.

Like any organization catering to this many participants we may not always “get it right” all the time but please know that we all love this game as much as you do and our wish is to provide the best experience possible.

I and the rest of the board look forward to meeting many of you through the rest of the season and look forward to the upcoming Club and Premier League Club meetings coming up next month as we plan not only for the Finals and end of season but for next season and beyond.

I am sending out this letter on behalf of the board as we continue our promise to keep in closer contact with you all and work through many of your requests and suggestions after our most recent survey towards the end of last year.

Lastly but most importantly, to all the players, we hope that you are enjoying your season so far and wishing you good luck and enjoyment of your Football for the rest of the year!

Thank you all for being part of Football Mid North Coast.

See you around the grounds!

– Mike Parsons, Chairman Football Mid North Coast
