Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) congratulates this month’s Newcastle Permanent Community Award Monthly Winners in Football Mid North Coast for May.
The awards recognise the hard work and significant time volunteers, coaches and match officials contribute to Australia’s largest team sport.
NNSWF Senior Officer Community Football, Ross Hicks said the Newcastle Permanent Community Awards provide an important opportunity to recognise those who make the game what it is today.
“Without this month’s winners, football simply would not be in the position it is, each of these winners has made an outstanding contribution to their clubs and deserve to be recognised.
“Community Football relies on a collective effort and these awards reflect the appreciation extended to everyone who plays a role in progressing our game.
“I am pleased we are able to thank and acknowledge each of them on behalf of the sport, thanks to the support of our major sponsor, Newcastle Permanent.”
Each of the winners was selected from a number of nominations made by club colleagues and observers of the game. Each winner receives unique packs from Official Community Football Partner, Newcastle Permanent to help them in their endeavours.
Newcastle Permanent Taree Branch Manager, Vanessa Byma, congratulates each of the winners and thanks them for their contribution to the game.
“Newcastle Permanent’s Community Football Awards provide opportunities to recognise those who generously give back to their clubs and communities. It is great to see local representatives being recognised for their ongoing commitment.”, Byma said.
From the pool of monthly winners, Football Mid North Coast will nominate one winner from each category to represent their Zone for the opportunity to be named “Newcastle Permanent Community Football Winner of the Year” to be announced at NNSWF’s Annual Awards Night in October.
Northern NSW Football, Football Mid North Coast and Newcastle Permanent congratulate all the recipients for May.
Referee of the Month
Lachlan started refereeing competitive matches for FMNC in 2017 and quickly rose through the ranks. Last season, he became a regular Assistant Referee on Premier League matches and centred on NPL and WPL fixtures before his season was cut short by injury whilst playing. Lachlan was rewarded for his consistency and improvement with his first senior centre on a Men’s match early this month. Lachlan is a great example to other fellow match officials and always willing to help out in any way.
Volunteer of the Month
Officially Jose is the Treasurer and Ladies’ Coach, and he does a fantastic job at both of these. Unofficially though, Jose is just about anything you need him to be. He has taken on board the role of Canteen Co-ordinator whilst our actual Canteen Co-ordinator is unavailable. He’s at the fields every Friday and Saturday putting up nets, setting up fields, manning the canteen and performing ground control duties, even though the only game he needs to be there for is the Ladies game at 5pm on Saturday afternoon. He liaises with our governing body, sources gear for our players, opens our canteen on training days so parents can purchase uniforms, and liaises with sponsors to ensure we all support each other. If ever a problem arises, Jose is the first to put up his hand to offer to fix it.
Coach of the Month
Tim is an advocate in our community for participation in sport, attending council meetings for better facilities and applying for grants. He spent the whole spring and summer coordinating the repair and maintenance of the club’s fields and got it looking awesome in time for the kick-off to the winter comp. Tim planned, coordinated and publicised an 8 week pre-season training clinic in February and March for all competitive ages which saw the club increase it’s numbers in these ages. Last year, Tim’s passion for coaching was highlighted as he worked with a group of 11 & 12 year old boys throughout the U12s comp season in a calm, fair and non-pressure way and they went on to win the Grand Final and then Zone Championship. This year, Tim has taken on President of the Club and has already been seen to be very proactive in lifting the standards of our club.
