NNSWF hit the road for regional club visits

February 10th, 2022

Northern NSW Football hit the road last week to visit a host of clubs in regional northern NSW.

NNSWF Club Development Officer Phillip Andrews travelled north to visit eight clubs from North Coast Football and Football Mid North Coast, as well as North Coast Football General Manager Andrew Woodward.

The main purpose of the trip was to acknowledge the achievements of Bellingen FC and Coffs Coast Tigers FC, with the pair earning National Club Development Program accreditation.

“It is a significant point in Bellingen FC’s life as their four-star NCDP accreditation underpins a focus on governance and building structure in the club to support entry into the Coastal Premier League,” Andrews said.

“For Coffs Coast Tigers their five-star NCDP accreditation is a continuation of sustained development over the last few seasons.”

Andrews also visited Coffs City United FC and Wauchope FC to take in their Summer Football programs.

“Coffs City United and Wauchope FC’s Summer Football events carried on despite some heavy storms. It was great to see clubs work their way through the current COVID restrictions to provide opportunities for football to be played,” Andrews said.

“Summer Football is a big event at Coffs City in particular with six pitches in action on the night of my visit, even with it being restricted to junior players this season. Wauchope deliver Summer Football to a smaller group of players with the desire to play more football, have fun and refine skills still evident.”

Andrews also had almost 30 boxes of merchandise from First Touch Football Supplies on board for delivery to Orara Valley FC, Nambucca Strikers FC and Sawtell FC, with Andrews ensuring he caught up with volunteers at each club.

“It was a busy few days. It was great to meet up with people instead of over the phone or via Zoom,” Andrews said.

“Great people continue to do fantastic things right across our region with the priority clearly being for people to have access to playing football. Every conversation was positive and connected to the prospects of a big season of football ahead.”
