Northern NSW Football is pleased to announce Sam Stewart as Football Mid North Coast’s Newcastle Permanent Referee of the Year for 2020.
Stewart officiates matches for Football Mid North Coast and has shown true dedication and passion for the game giving players, coaches and spectators the best experience possible.
Stewart was nominated by Wauchope SC members.
Sam is one of Football Mid North Coast’s young, up and coming referees and has started assisting at Premier League level. He referees in all Community competitive age groups and respects players no matter their age or skill level.
Sam has a professional manner and manages the game at a high standard. He is able to ensure the game is played safely during all conditions. His communication with players during the game to ensure they are playing safely and in accordance with the rules and guidelines is very accomplished.
Football Mid North Coast look forward to helping Sam develop his refereeing career.
Northern NSW Football Head of Football Development Peter Haynes said NNSWF were delighted to be able to recognise Stewart’s contribution.
“Sam’s contribution to the game through his role as a Match Official has been wonderful,” Haynes said.
“Referees are vital to the enjoyment of the game by players, coaches and spectators alike and Sam has shown that he takes this responsibility very seriously. I congratulate Sam on his award on behalf of NNSWF and all players, coaches and spectators across the state.”
Newcastle Permanent Port Macquarie Senior Branch Manager Adam Power congratulated Stewart on becoming the recipient of the Newcastle Permanent Referee of the Year award for Football Mid North Coast.
“Through Newcastle Permanent’s Community Football Awards we recognise the important role referees play in creating fair play and respect on the field,” Power said.
“Our thanks to all the referees across northern NSW for their contributions to the game and congratulations to this year’s winner.”
As the winner of their Zone’s Referee of the Year award, Stewart is now a nominee for Northern NSW Football’s Annual Newcastle Permanent Referee of the Year award to be announced during the week commencing 26 October.
