Mid Coast FC Academy

Selected players in the 9s Boys, 10s Boys, 11 Boys and 9s - 12s Girls participate in Mid Coast Academy which follows the Skill Acquisition Phase Program (SAP) developed by Football Australia. The Skill Acquisition Program provides a clear, professionally delivered development opportunity for young footballers in NNSW which underpins the National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s and Women’s competitions.

The Football Australia Skill Acquisition Phase program focuses on developing one of the four core skills within a main moment (attacking or defending):

- Striking the ball: this includes all forms of striking the ball such as short/long passing, shooting and crossing.

- First Touch: controlling the ball with all allowed body parts.

- 1v1: all moves, feints and accelerations to get past and away from an opponent.

-Running with the ball: at speed (with a lot of space) or 'dribbling' (in tight areas), this includes techniques for protecting the ball and changing direction

Players in the Mid Coast Academy participate in monthly gala days against each other. These gala days improve their game knowledge and further develop the above skills.
